A quick review of the York marathon. I do love running round York, I've done the 10km and the 10m races here before. It helps as I live only 45 minutes away but it is still a great place to run. The course is very well laid out with completely closed roads throughout and one thing that always sticks with you is the super support. There are specific cheer points and through the centre of town is always busy but there are very few places, even out in the sticks, that there isn't someone out to cheer you on. Even the Archbishop of York was out giving people high fives this year. Speaking to some at the finish there was even a que for a high five with him at one point!

The race is well organised and there are plenty of water stations (every 3 miles) which alternated between just water and water & isotonic and gels from this year's sponsor High 5.

The only gripe, and it is a very small one, is the quality of the goody bag. T-shirt and medal were spot on but Asda being a sponsor you got some God awful raspberry drink thing, a couple of chocolate bars and some strawberry laces. All of which was pretty much inedible.

Apart from that, it was as usual a great day out in York made even better by all the fantastic support.
