My second time at this event, last year with blistering sun, this year with rain. The swim was OK, very weedy and too many turns which slowed things down, but not much could have been done about either of those. The bike course was good, some marshals putting in more effort than others watching junctions and turns. The feed station unfortunately really let it down. Two people was not enough, I just grabbed the first bottle offered and didn't get anything else. I'd have like to get some gels and to have made sure I was getting an iso drink. Also, placing it right before some rough road surface wasn't great, having to grab back onto the bars to go over it meant a rush to sort the bottle out. There was also the mention of a water station in the briefing but I never saw that. The run was hard like last year and would have benefited from another aid station or spreading the three out more. Having the kids bike race on the same paths wasn't good. All the kids who passed me where polite and well behaved, but with the mud there could very easily have been accidents if one came down a slope too quick for a runner to get out of the way. It was the same last year but without the mud so a bit safer but still not great. I'll probably be back for another Castle race event next year, but probably one of the others to see how well they work.

Thanks for your detailed feedback and for returning this year. We appreciate your honest thoughts on the swim, marshal coverage, and especially the aid stations — all valuable points we’ll review carefully. Safety is our top priority, so your concerns about the kids’ race and course sharing will also be taken on board. We’re glad you’re considering trying more Castle Race events and hope your next experience is even - Castle Race Series
