Swim course was the best of the 3, water was warm and the route well marked with bouys, lots of kayakers too for safety. Disappointing that the bike course was cut from 96km to 80 and then wasn't even 80km - only 76km- however it was a good course, well marked - only complaint was that I had cars tailing me pretty close for some of the roads that were not closed. The run course was my least favourite - it was a muddy trail and wasn't advertised as such, only in the days preceding did I find out trail shoes were recommended - they should have been required really. Disappointing that were no shower/changing facilities as it was in 2024. Medal and t shirt very nice - would be nice to "Gauntlet Finisher" somewhere on the medal - I might engrave it on the back. Overall a good event 6.5/10. The swim was the highlight and It's not my strongest discipline. All the volunteers and marshals were lovely and helpful. Apologies to the bike water station crew where I didn't catch the bottle and it went flying!
Thank you for your detailed and honest feedback Samuel — we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the swim course, especially as it’s not your strongest discipline—great job! It's also fantastic to hear you felt supported by our volunteers and marshals throughout the day. We do understand your disappointment with the changes to the bike course distance and the lack of clarity around the run surface. We’ll definitely take this on board for future events, especially around clearer communication regarding course conditions and recommended kit. Your points about road safety and post-race facilities are also well noted—we’re always striving to improve and provide the best possible experience from start to finish. Thanks again for being part of the event, and we love your idea of engraving "Gauntlet Finisher" on the medal—what a great personal touch. We hope to welcome you back again! - Castle Race Series
