Having run the marathon leg as part of a bastion relay team in July i was looking forward to coming back to take part in the sprint plus race, parking was easy enough but being there early probably helped, the lack of any changing facility was somewhat of a surprise (im not counting a small green tent on wet boggy grass as a facility) even a couple of transition type tents would have been useful. Registration was easy enough as was the bike racking. The race itself was fun, i hated the swim but this was due to my demons and not the lake, but safety crew all around gave a sense of well being. Marshalls out on the bike course did some great work stopping traffic and directing you round the sharper corners, people have mentioned hills but i didn't think it was that bad, get some decent hill training in and you'll have no issues. The run was on part of the bastion course so i knew what to expect, and the finishing chute with lots of different racers coming in at the same time made for a good atmosphere. Family and supporters enjoyed the day as well, there was plenty to keep them occupied. Will i be back in 2016 - maybe, i've a score to settle with the swim. Overall a very good event, and i even managed to get out of the muddy car park at the end without any issues but it will need to be better managed next year.
