Parking to registration was all good. Rain didn’t help but obviously no fault of organisers! Muddy hill walk to get there but all OK. Pack collection all good. Pretty venue. Lake is stunning. Transition set up good. Tri Ireland Marshalls were their usual selves - regular tri competitors may know what I mean. Unnecessarily abrupt and often quite rude. Not sure where they get off being like that. Pre race brief all good. Swim was amazing. Lake is stunning and great water. Really good. Bike route is hilly - similar to Ironman Cork last year. Traffic around roads near Burren was quite intense with coaches pulling out in front so not ideal but it is what it is. Just really have to watch speed through there. Corkscrew hill was good too. Beautiful views. Into transition was muddy and not great and then the cross country trail run to come. It was a tricky run, especially after the bike section. Really boggy and muddy but it’s not supposed to be easy. Should definitely be classsd as trail run. Overall race experience was very good. Supporter experience was OK. Family with me as usual so they have seen it all and they felt the supporters village as advertised really didn’t live up to the description given pre event. No shelter from rain - need a big gazebo for spectators. Toilets were absolutely disgusting. Worse than the ones at a festival. I don’t know how it’s possible to get them so dirty. Definitely need more portaloos and maybe someone on hand to try and keep them relatively clean. Overall though for competitors it was a really good event at a lovely venue.
