I've done a lot if marathons in my time, and they have all been very different. The warmth of the local people cheering me on was heartwarming, even when I walked the last 10 miles due to sickness and diarrhoea! There didn't seem anyone around checking on the welfare of runners if people needed to be rescued either. Because I was flipping slow, just ducking in under the cut off time - the roads seemed to have opened again, leaving at times to negotiate 8 lines of traffic, and nearly getting lost because the local public servants who were sorting the traffic, had disappeared. This was dangerous, but I had my wits about me after seeing a fatality the day before. Not enough toilets on the course, once again heartwarming that local places let me use theirs. If you want a very different style marathon and like the heat - maybe give it a go. I'm doing a 100, and want a 100 totally different ones, and this one certainly delivered different!!!!
