after living in newcastle for a year as a student a decade before i promised myself that if i was ever fit enough that i would return and do this iconic huge half marathon. So it happened in 2012 i got a last minute charity place and ran the route from newcastle over the tyne bridge and into gateshead and on towards the finish in south shields. The red arrows flew over us as we ran over the tyne bridge for added epicness after high fiving many stars from the successful Team GB team at the start line. A few hills and inclines along the route and plenty of crowd support and fancy dress to entertain you along with lots of bands and aidstations. A great race at a big price. Lame goodybag and medal once again letting the day down tho. You expect more for a price that steep
