To manage 60k+ people in one event is amazing. To have them do it in such good humour and energy, and have such a brilliant outcome for (I imagine) virtually everyone is outstanding. Well done. The hour plus queue for the metro at the end pretty much killed the vibe of the day, but as I reflect on everything else that will fade I'm sure, though it has stopped me entering the 2027 race. Some time in future I may feel inspired enough to try again. Overal, thank you for making it such a brilliant event.

Plastic bottles were scattered along the course, this caused people to trip over as there weren’t many bins along the course. Many people were running and then just stopped to walk in the middle of the road. This has caused people to weave and gain more distance. Due to weaving between walkers, this added an extra 1km to my distance. Walkers must keep to the side of the roads to decrease congestion. Many people from the pink waves went in earlier waves - which isn’t allowed, this also caused congestion on the route.

The Run itself was great. But the start procedure is very regimented. In earlier years everyone was free to move around the start area. I used to like to go to see the elite runners and celebrities start before making my way up the queue to my starting place. Now you're not allowed to do that anymore. But worst of all is the total disaster area of the transport away from South Shields. When you're worn out and with aching muscles, the last thing anyone wants is to stand up for an hour and three quarters shuffling along the queue for the Metro. People were fainting, people were vomiting in the queue. It's just not right. The transport possibilities just cannot cope with so many people. When I first did the ran 26 years ago (and every year since) with around half the number of participants, the buses and Metro and Shields Ferry could cope but they are completely overwhelmed now. It really puts the mockers on the day. Please have a think and sort it out. My recommendation would be to stop private cars coming to pick people up, and hence free up the roads to allow more buses to proceed unhindered and get people away from the start quicker. As I said the GNR itself is a joyous event for participants and spectators alike but the transport back needs a major rethink.

A phenomenal event but an incredibly congested green wave. There is a very long wait at the start and would be good to have fruit - banana etc and water at start particularly on such a warm day. At the end there is the bag and medal/shirt handed out. Fundamental issue is after that there is no immediate recovery food/water available when runners finish. In other events has been fruit cake; water; sandwiches available and think there should be an area where runners can avail of that to recover quickly after the run. I felt very poorly afterwards - my mistake as only had a banana and 3 gels in my stomach. The ST Johns area was not immediately apparent and some distance away from the finishing line - the staff there were superb. I found it eventually as was cramping up and feeling naseous and vomited after race as could not keep water down - there were a number of others in there too and some basic recovery food would I think have helped alot for those suffering from similar symptoms.

The vibe from the crowds were incredible. However I really think the number of participants is too high. The race should start much earlier because there is so much standing around waiting for things. It would also be good if you can do a bag drop the night before because the queues for this were insane and we nearly didn't make it despite getting there over an hour early. There were many parts of the course where it was so crowded on the road that you could barely move, this made parts of it feel a little bit unsafe if emergency vehicles needed to get through. The t shirt and medal were really nice and the charity village was excellent but the apres area could be improved.

Fabulous time and memories. The Women's urinals are a massive hit for me so I hope this continues. Finally no discriminatory massive queue for ladies loos. Late baggage buses much appreciated. Very crowded route and narrow path at times had to dodge around people often. I wish t shirts could be appropriately kept for the size ordered. Frustrating when as a 4ft 11 person I have to have a mans medium t shirt which clearly won't ever be worn. Or at least if you could opt out of a t shirt, your registration fee is reduced.

Totally agree with other comments re congestion. I'm 69 and had to dodge thousands of walkers and slower runners due to the huge numbers of participants. Agree that either more waves are needed, or far fewer numbers or maybe more course etiquette like keep to the right if walking or slow. Also why do the great north RUN if you are going to WALK?????

This is my 5th year and this year felt very busy & congested. I couldn’t ever get a clear run because walkers were all over the road instead just 1 side. It needs 3 more coloured waves at least to filter out people. I love this run. Every year the people cheering & the volunteers are spot on. The organisers have to think about adding more waves & maybe a specific walking 1
