← Exeter Live Better Marathon

Its been over twenty years since Exeter held a full marathon and has been more of a Half Marathon city over the past decades since the last Marathon due to the success of the Great West Run Half Marathon. Well it returned and didnt dissapoint. Exeter City Football Club staged the event via former Great West Run RD Pete Ferlie and was a complete success. Around 200 runners turned up on a sunny Sunday and completed three laps of Exeter Quay which started and finished at the Piazza. Regular water stops and supportive marshalls along the flat route which went from one end of the Quay to the other. First aiders and water only drinkstations were on the route. Had some good support but reasonably low key as wasnt overly promoted around the city or on social media. Goody bag had a bespoke medal and cotton tshirt, water and food and also a glass paperweight with the name of the  race and your race position on it which was a nice touch. Free downloadable photos were also available. Great to see this one return in 2017 with double the size race field and clearly the 2016 race success spread well by word of mouth. Fast and flat and gorgeous scenery. Worth doing for sure
