← Hever Castle Festival of Endurance - Triathlon Series
The Bastion was the my second Iron distance Triathlon, having done the Outlaw in 2014.
Where the Outlaw is quite a big event with 1000 participants and is hugely popular, the Bastion by contrast is a low key race with only 100 entrants. However, every aspect of the event made the Bastion the ultimate experience.
The setting and location were outstanding. The best swim location ever (Italian Loggia, Chinese Tea house, beautiful lake and river); really tough but enjoyable bike route and a run in fantastic surroundings.
I was pushed to my limit, but this made it the ultimate challenge for me.
Only negative was the cancelled pasta party, but I soon forgot about that.
I would recommend this event to anyone wishing to do something different from the branded events.
You can keep your Ironman tattoo - the Bastion is worthy of any accolade.
