Firstly just to note I did the Half Marathon of the MK Marathon weekend. It was the 3rd or 4th attempt to put on the event due to COVID-19 after initially being signed up to the 2020 event. The organisers had kept runners as up to date as possible given the uncertainty and had gone to great lengths to ensure they had COVID safety guidelines in place to ensure the event could go ahead. I won't go into massive detail about what was in place as hopefully it won't apply in future years but my partner and I were given wave start times and we were set off in groups of 30 every few minutes. To get to the start was a one way system and the same at the finish. One issue was that they allowed runners to choose their start time - this meant that some faster runners ended up in later waves and ended up having to weave around hundreds of runners that had started ahead of them - this didn't apply to me but every so often there would be someone doing 6 minute miles flying past in sometimes narrow sections.
Enjoyable course taking in a couple of lakes around Milton Keynes. The stadium finish wasn't quite the same as previous years with a short section along the upper tier walkway rather than running a lap of the stadium pitchside. Again, given the circumstances this was fine.
Really well organised and one of the biggest events to go ahead at that point in the year. Will definitely return.
