← ATW Ashridge Duathlon

A great race choice for those who enjoy a picturesque location and rolling countryside, rather than the smooth but dull tarmac of an aerodrome, for example. Grassy parts of the run might be a little slippery in bad weather but it's generally quite a fast circuit with a few bumps to see off close rivals. Transitions are short and easy. The bike course is well suited to road bikes, rewarding riders who enjoy a bit of hill work. The road surface was a bit rough in places and the speed bumps into and out of the Estate are quite aggressive. Tyres need to be pumped up hard and riders need to be vigilant. In a normal year, Ashridge is a good venue for family and spectators, with many acres of woods and walks. When driving to the course from the north, have faith in your SatNav if it should conflict with National Trust signs to the "Ashridge Estate".
