← Hatfield 5 Mile Race

This was the second time I had completed the Hatfield 5. It lives up to it's fast course reputation, as I got my fastest 5 mile time here two years ago and then went one better this time. Parking was straight forward, free and a short walk from race HQ. Race bib pick up was straight forward. This year they put the bag drop outside so it meant there was more room to wait inside before hand as it was bit cold. There could be more toilets, although it's always nice not to have to use portaloos, as there were big queues for the ladies.

The course itself is one loop out and back. It does pinch point at times so it makes sense to start in the right place. I made the mistake of starting a bit too far back this time so I made it hard work for myself than I should have. It's not a closed road race but you feel safe. The marshals and volunteers were great as always and something I have come to know and appreciate with any Active Training World events I have been to. Nice race medal. There is an on site cafe for pre and post race refreshments.
