← Snowdonia Marathon Eryri

This was my first marathon and WOW what a first marathon to choose.  I LOVED it.

The expo the day before was well organisers. Collecting numbers was a breeze, and there was a real buzz around the place.  Smooth process and number and T-shirt collected with ease.  The T-shirt was great quality and great design.  If I had forgotten anything it was sure to be available there, from socks to gloves and trainers, any last minute needs caterers for. Only downside was the snowdon marathon hoodies I thought were a little expensive and so didn’t get one.

Didn’t need to use the bag drop as stayed local.  Atmosphere walking to start line was fab, it didn’t feel like there was thousands of runners, and also plenty of supporters around to cheer us to start.
The fiest 5 miles take you to the top pen y pass.  A long slow drag, but just awesome. Like a. Big human caterpillar 🐛 people everywhere.  The views all around just amazing.
From here a nice down hill to recover, a title bit of trail but nothing to technical.
The roads are open and at parts it was a little scary.  Parts are quiet from supporters due to nature of road, but when you get to a point where there are supporters it such a welcome.
Water stations are every three miles and we’re just spot on.  Little pots of water - perfect size.  All stations in second half have gels/bananas.
The views all the way around were amazing.  There are hills, but worth it when you get to the top.
The best part for me was the tea station, top of mile 24.  Mad hatter tea party.  We had jam sandwiches, jam tarts, tea, flapjacks.  It was AWESOME.  You don’t get a medal at the end, but a lovely bit of welsh slate.
I can’t wait until next year and hope I get in on the ballot, I can see why people go back  year after year.
