Ran the Snowdon Marathon yesterday for the 2nd time.This race is fantastic,it has got everything.The course is so challenging but an absolute pleasure to run.The organisation is the best I have ever seen.So many feed stations,the Marshalls & volunteers are amazing ,the scenery & views are spectacular & the layout & different types of terrain we run on are just majestic.No wonder people keep coming back to run it.What an experience & achievement it is to complete the race.Congratulations Jane to you & your team for putting on this iconic race so superbly.I look forward to being successful in the ballot & returning in 2025.👏

Second time completing this and it does not disappoint. The views are incredible. Yes I hate hills, this is HILLY! But I’m already waiting for the ballot to open. I can’t find a single fault (well the last hill is a big of a kick but the Mike 24 party makes up for it! ) don’t enter because I want a place 🤣 A definite bucket list marathon

There is a reason why people willingly return to this event year after year and suffer the pain of one of the UK's toughest road marathons - because it is very special and simply the best! I just love this event 💗 - The scenery is breathtaking! - Simple registration for ballot process; although I did like the old New Year's drunken entry they have simplified it over the last few years. - The scenery is breathtaking! - Clear race day information via email and available online. - The scenery is breathtaking! - Fellow runner's are awesome, complete stranger's in a collective struggle will put a spotlight on the best of humanity. - The scenery is breathtaking! - All aid stations, of which there are plenty, are run by local groups for good causes - they are a sea of smiling faces giving so much support. Special mention to Mile 24 pitstop, who year on year provide the best rest stop, dressed to capture the Halloween season and show the very best of support with the best cup of tea you will ever have the pleasure to experience. - The scenery is breathtaking! - There are no medals, if you complete you earn yourself a lovely piece of Welsh slate, a coaster. Return a few years and you can build yourself a complete set. - Did I mention... The scenery is breathtaking!

This race had been on my wishlist for a while, when I was lucky enough to be offered a place by a friend who was unable to take part.

The organisation and number collection was well organised, and I picked up a hoodie I'd pre-ordered at the same time (which will forever be one of my favourites!) Every person I encountered from the organisation throughout was lovely and friendly. Note: you need to be sure before the day where you are going to park up for the race, as it can get full quite early on.

On the day the atmosphere was electric and we couldn't wait to get going, with great local support at the start line. It's a very tough race, no question, given the terrain and elevation, but the views are spectacular and have to be seen to be believed. Some of the route is on open roads, albeit quiet, so you have to have your wits about you, but at no point did I feel unsafe in that respect. The legendary Mad Hatters tea station at mile 24 didn't disappoint - just what was needed at that point!

At the finish you are presented with a coveted slate coaster, which makes a lovely change from a medal, and there's a pub within staggering distance too. A terrific race to take part in.

2nd time for me running around Snowdon.

This marathon is a lot more difficult than your standard 26 miler, you will have to ascend (and then descend) 3 pretty sizable climbs on your way aroound the highest mountain in Wales.

It can be very easy to run a little too hard on the first half of the course, and I was definitely paying the price when I hit the third (and steepest) climb at around the 22nd mile mark. the next 2 miles were spent using a combination of moaning, swearing and hands on knees trying to get as much help as possible to push myself ever upwards.

The last descent back to Llanberis was sodden this year and I found myself sliding on my back through muddy fields on more than one occasion!
