A great event that deserves the hype and build-up it gets. This was my first time running the Oxford Half marathon and I didn't really know what to expect. Being a ballot entry I didn't have much hope of getting a place but got a nice surprise when I was given a spot.

The pre-event information was really well organised, the only downside was that I had to travel to Oxford (a 100 mile round trip) the day before to collect my race number, but that was probably more my fault for selecting the option to collect a race number rather than having it posted.

On the day of the race, the weather was appalling. Heavy rain and strong winds, but the organisers has done all the could to not let it spoil the event and ensure everything continued to run smoothly. The start was well organised, especially given the number of runners.

The route itself was nice, although we didn't see a huge amount, given the persistent rain. The course was well supported throughout and there were plenty of marshals, and good water/energy stops at regular intervals.

The medal is really nice, and the good bag was full of great treats too. Other notable points were that the park and ride was very well organised and managed on the day and the bag drop was simple and easy, even with the weather situation. Overall, I would recommend this race and with the route being fairly flat, it's definitely got the potential as a PB course.
