We stayed at the Cotswold Lodge Hotel, which I would highly recommend for anyone taking part in the race — excellent location, comfortable rooms, and great service all around.
The organisation of the event was generally very good, and the staff worked hard to make sure everything ran smoothly. The marshals were absolutely lovely — friendly, encouraging, and always ready with a smile.
The atmosphere along the route was fantastic. There were so many music bands, choirs, and even bagpipes, which created a brilliant party vibe throughout. The spectators were amazing, holding up funny and motivating signs — and a special thank you to whoever handed out crisps around mile 10, they were very much appreciated!
The course itself was mainly flat, passing through the beautiful town, a housing estate, and a park. The sprays of water along the route were a fabulous touch, especially as things heated up.
A few small areas could be improved: it was hard to hear the race start, as there didn’t seem to be any speakers to build up the atmosphere . Also, toilets were quite limited in the latter half of the course.
However, there were plenty of first aid tents, which was reassuring, and the Powerade stations were well-placed and much appreciated.
Crossing the finish line felt special — you were properly congratulated, which made the effort worthwhile.
Overall, a really enjoyable event with great support, music, and community spirit. I’d definitely recommend it!
