Lovely inaugural race at Guildford. Living in the welsh valleys I don’t come this way very often and what a lovely town Guildford is. Leading up to race day, there were a lot of emails & social media posts from the organisers, so we were kept well informed and they certainly built the hype of the three teams, Orange, Pink & Turquoise. Being a first race, there will always be teething issues but nothing major apart from the bag drop at the end and the need for more toilets. I liked the early start, as I was pacing the sub 60min 10k, we were done by 9am, leaving the rest of the day for some food, catching up with all the Racecheck crew & driving home to Wales. I’m not usually a fan of an out and back race but I really enjoyed this one. Lovely undulating course, starting in the town centre, it’s by no means flat but it made it much more fun. Us welshies are used to bigger hills so wasn’t an issue for me. The marshalls were friendly and plenty of them out on the course, not too many supporters but it was an 8am start. Nice to see around 1700 runners turn up for the event for its first one too. Thanks AAT for inviting us to pace and I loved being the team leader for Team Orange.( The winning team!).. I’ll certainly see you again soon as I now have some races from you to book in. If they’re as well organised as this one, they’ll be a pleasure! Thank you x
