← Sandman Triathlon

Sandman sprint triathlon was brilliant. It was very well organised and in a stunningly beautiful location. The Newborough Forest area lent itself very well to an ample event village with lots of parking, an ideal sea swim, and an interesting trail run. The bike went out of the forest on good roads with enough ascent to be called hilly. We had good weather but a choppy swim - with no jelly fish. Staff were helpful and safety was well-managed; some of us were re-routed after a cyclist ahead of us had a fall, but re-direction was handled swiftly and we were clear about the diversion. Medal, cowbell and refreshments were all available at the end, and we’d had socks and foods/fuel samples and a cycling bottle in a pack at registration. I was in a camping party and this was a good option for accommodation because the weather was good and our campsite was full of participants in the many Sandman races that were on over the weekend. I loved it!
