This was an event I had wanted to do after seeing on tv. Everything was so well set up and well organised. The views you get are stunning on this event, from looking across to snowdonia at the swim start to working your way through Newbourgh forest in the run.
it's not an easy course with sea swimming and trail/sand running but it's definitely one I'd go back too again.
Always Aim High events for fantastic in their pre event and on the day info.
Highly recommend this event

If I was going to do one triathlon, I'd like it to be this one. It's well organised and in a spectacularly beautiful location. I've also needed to transfer an entry from one event to another with the organisers of this race, and they have been really helpful. It's lovely afterwards, a week later, to watch the Welsh Triathlon Series S4C TV programme, which takes you back to the atmosphere and views of the Sandman with the chance to spot yourself on the screen!

Great event in an amazing part of the country! Great, challenging course that has a nice mix of roads on the bike and trails on the run. Definitely practise some sea swimming beforehand as it can be quite wavy but really good fun once you were in. Could just do with some brighter markers to see the exit of the swim; black flags are almost impossible to spot in the water when there is no one in front!

Sandman sprint triathlon was brilliant. It was very well organised and in a stunningly beautiful location. The Newborough Forest area lent itself very well to an ample event village with lots of parking, an ideal sea swim, and an interesting trail run. The bike went out of the forest on good roads with enough ascent to be called hilly. We had good weather but a choppy swim - with no jelly fish. Staff were helpful and safety was well-managed; some of us were re-routed after a cyclist ahead of us had a fall, but re-direction was handled swiftly and we were clear about the diversion. Medal, cowbell and refreshments were all available at the end, and we’d had socks and foods/fuel samples and a cycling bottle in a pack at registration. I was in a camping party and this was a good option for accommodation because the weather was good and our campsite was full of participants in the many Sandman races that were on over the weekend. I loved it!

Did this event for the first time this year. As the sun rose on Sunday and I saw the beach I knew it was going to be a good day.
The course challenged me with my first sea swim in an event, a hilly bike course and that run finishing on the beach, but it was so beautiful that even when it poured with rain I kept smiling.
The organisation was perfect, and the support on the bike from marshalls and locals was great.
I would thoroughly recommend this event and I plan to return next year.
