← Race to the Stones

I have done this raace twice now and done another threashold race RTTK i was running with my friend clare it was her first ultra which i found to be very brave of her as its a long way 100 kilometres non stop adding to this she has only ran one marathon before. I do find theses races very expensive this one cost me £150 and you dont even get a tshirt at the finish line that is seperate. The bling is fine what you are paying for imo is the medical cover and the amazingly well stocked check points theses are roughly about evrey 6/7 miles which for some people are needed.. You dont have to run it all in one go either as there is a camping option so 50k the first day and 50k the seond day on sunday. Another thing to mention is the toilets at each checkpoint they were clean and didnt run out of toilet paper always a bonus. The trail itself the ridgeway is very clerly signposted which is a bonus for people who arent great at map reading and being in the middle of the countryside by themselves. IT does get congested along some points and you do lepfrog the same people a lot. Point to note there are a lot of walkers on the ridgeway and you can get stuck behind them. The latter part of the route i found is the hardest underfoot as its very hard ground chalky in some places also youll be doing this in the dark which doesnt help.Another point to note is that you dont actually finish at the stones in avebury you have to do a dog leg via the stones for your photo and to make up the miles. The photos are free and very good as well. I would recommend this race for someones first ultra.
