I've done the Bill Fox Round the Resers race 4 times now in the last five years. It's a low key event raising money for local childrens charities and is the sister event to the fabulous Gravy Pud Fell Race in December.

Registration is at the United Utitilies customer centre just outside of Tintwhistle (Glossop) with the race itself starting on the service road immediately outside. Number collection and commemorative mugs were available at the start (the mugs were a tradition although t-shirts were given out over the last couple of years). All very straightforward.

Starting briefing would have benefited from a loud-hailer; I wasn't too far from the marshal providing the briefing but it was still very hard to hear what was said.

The race sets off down the service road to Bottoms Reservoir and then it's two complete laps to make the 5 mile distance. Marshals were all in the places where needed with a dedicated cheer squad at the top of the hill!

Paths are all mud-packed trails but as usual road shoes were absolutely fine. It's a reasonably quick course with the up-hill being quite short and the downhill a gentle drop over a much longer distance.

A wide range of abilities taking part so it's suitable for all abilities.

Still awaiting official results (it's an £8 race with everything done by hand) but it's my quickest time of the 4 attempts so it was another great night running Round the 'Resers.
