I did this 10k last year and again this year as I enjoyed it. The race starts in the city near the bridge and circuits the city centre before heading over that bridge and along the riverfront. It is very scenic with boats in the harbour and then leading onto the seafront. The route then goes through Roker Park past the bandstand, (this section is quite hilly) and back onto the seafront, continuing on and eventually back over the bridge to the finish. The public support was excellent as were the marshalls, very encouraging and supportive. There were water stations on route but I took my own bottle with me. The booty at the end is good - medal, Tshirt, fridge magnet and cloth bag. This race is handy for me as it is in my home town but I may have a try at the HM next year.
