← Vitality London 10,000

This is my third year coming from Wales for the race and I always tell everyone it’s been my favourite 10k. This year had a couple of blips that took the shine off it. I didn’t use the bag drop (which looked crazy) and the toilet queues were bonkers (we always pay the 50p to use the tube station loos which meant we were in and out of them quickly). I was in wave 2, which was rammed and so big a lot of us were waiting outside the pen to actually get in before the race started. I spent most of my time weaving people, as a lot in my Pen were walking from around mile 2 onwards... 3-4 abreast at some points. Apparently 23,000 took part this year and I feel that’s a bit much for this course, especially where the course narrows at points. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fab atmosphere and the streets are lined with supporters & music, which give the race a great feel and worth doing. Love the medal and the women’s finisher T-shirt’s are lovely! A great fit and some of the Marshalls at the end let people try them on to make sure they got one that fitted properly. Shame they ran out of T-shirt’s, goodie bags and medals. (One of our runners didn’t get a bag or the correct size T-shirt as they had all gone in his size). It was well organised from the finish point as you followed the route round the park, through the bag drop and then to have your timing chip cut off. Just took a bit of time, which it would having that many runners taking

part.  Not as much in the goodie bag this year either as previous. It is a high price for a 10k but considering you run through the centre of London and the medals & T-shirt’s are good quality, it’s worth it.
