Love a closed roads run in central London, they are massive fun and the atmosphere is always good.

The thumbs down part first to get it out of the way - the pre race logistics. Signposts to the race village were quite scant, and once you got there it was tricky to get sorted. Very few toilets around the bag drop so the queues added to the messy bag drop. It wasn’t clear that people were only being let through to drop their stuff in wave order so there was a bottleneck at the entrance to the zone which only moved through hearsay as it was impossible to hear the marshall’s instructions. It was all a bit chaotic for a while when people’s nerves are already a bit jangly. Once through it was plainsailing to the start and more toilets!
The start was smooth, really well signposted and easy to navigate and before you know it you’re off and running through those closed roads. Loads to see on the way round, brilliant bands, and the volunteers really make the experience better. Lovely long water stations, plenty available on such a warm day and loads of chances to recycle your plastic. Brilliant finish line right in front of the palace, loads of space to stop and catch your breath before picking up your swag.
Overall a busy run, loads of good atmosphere about, lots of proof that runners are the nicest people.
