← Cholmondeley Castle - Triathlon Series

Yet again another stunningly run event by the Castle Triathlon crew. The setting of Cholmondeley Castle is lovely with the castle on the hill and the cricket ground and the lake below.

The swim featured a 2 lap swim with an Austrialian style exit between each lap, the water was nice and warm and the sighting of the buoys was pretty perfect.

The bike course uses a mixture of fast flowing main A roads and smaller hillier B roads. In the main the roads were in good condition and the traffic was pretty low on the main roads. A nice challenging course that was 3 loops for the Gauntlet competitors. On each lap we rode through the castle grounds, and I thought this was a great addition to the event, it really was great being cheered on by big crowds every lap. The way the course here was managed was excellent and even with bike in and bike out using the same road there was never any problems with riders slowing down for T2 or those leaving T1. Well signed and marshaled as always.

The run course is a great course, each lap was 7km which we did 3 laps of, mainly rolling but with a nice steep climb up through the woods on each lap, this was countered by a nice steep descent back to the main castle grounds. Again very well marshaled and really friendly encouragement from the drinks station out by Beeston Lodge. Really enjoyable run course.

Overall a great course and as always a mixture of distances to suit all levels of athlete. Very highly recommended if you are new to the sport or have a wealth of experience.
