Great event in a beautiful location. The course is surprisingly fast (for the bike) and the run a testing one, with a sharp ascent at the end (x3 times). A nice friendly atmosphere and the volunteers were all great. Defo consider doing this again next year!

Overall this was an enjoyable day and a very well organised event. The cycle route was great and the marshalls were friendly and helpful. The run was a more challenging course than I expected but again was very scenic and the marshalls were great. The aid stations were well stocked and it was nice to see paper cups instead of a huge number of plastic waste you see at other events. As per alot of other comments the water quality for the swim was awful, I did wonder how it has managed to pass any kind of testing. It made the swim very challenging as you couldn't see any other swimmers and kept knocking into each other. It also meant you couldn't get into a great rhythm as you had to bring your head up a lot to see where other people were and where there was space. A little disappointing that spectators have to pay. And my husband said from a spectators POV he enjoyed the day and the set up but there was only one vendor selling water and they sold out early as it was a hot day. He also couldn't find anywhere to fill your own bottles which was a shame given the temperatures.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the event overall and found it well organised, with particular praise for the cycle route, friendly marshals, and well-stocked aid stations. It’s also great to hear your positive comments regarding our use of paper cups and the reduced environmental impact — this is something we are actively working to improve across all our events. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the run course. We understand that it was more challenging than expected, but we’re glad you still found it scenic and well supported by our marshals. We are, however, sorry to hear your concerns regarding the swim conditions. We take water quality and swimmer safety extremely seriously, and all venues are required to meet the relevant safety and environmental standards. That said, we appreciate your comments about visibility and congestion in the water, and this will be reviewed with the Race Director and safety team to see how we can improve swimmer spacing and navigation in lower-visibility conditions. Thank you also for your comments regarding spectator access and facilities. We understand your concerns about the availability of drinking water and refreshments on a hot day, and we will review provision in the spectator areas to ensure this is better supported in future events, including more signage to water refill points. We appreciate you and your husband taking the time to share your experience from both participant and spectator perspectives. Feedback like this is extremely valuable in helping us improve future events. Thank you again for your support, and we hope to welcome you back to another Castle Race Series event soon.

The event organisation was so smooth and well planned, communication and info provided was great and every single marshal was so friendly and encouraging which makes a huge difference. Only downsides were paying £8 for a spectator to visit which doesn’t seem fair, and the swim was full of weeds which hindered the activity. On the whole I would have no hesitation in recommending an event here to others. Thank you.

Hi Michael. Thank you so much for your feedback. The spectators entry fee is reduced compared to the normal rate and you get access to the beautiful gardens with your spectator tickets so great value :)

I love this race and came back in 2026 because of how well organised and friendly it is. Water never too cold either. Get it in your diary!

The castle team always put on superb events. From start to finish it was seamless, great course and lovely people. I'm going to make one suggestion, there was no clear information on podium presentation times, and splitting the AG and overall for the Olympic Tri meant it was not really well attended. I completely understand these things can be delayed, but bringing maybe have a time that it won't be before to allow people to grab food / showers if there is time. Minor grip affects very few overall 5 stars as usual!

I have been racing at Cholmondley since 2016 and this event never disappoints! The briefing was informative and presented in a way so that everyone could understand it. The swim course was simple and there were a lot of swim safety and even a kayaker who was there to make sure nobody went the wrong way! The bike course was nicely signposted and a very scenic route that was well marshalled with excellent support. The run was, again, well signposted with excellent marshals. The finish line was nicely placed right in front of the castle. I would highly recommend this event.

What a fantastic race to do for our first ever triathlon! Really well organised and on the day everyone was so friendly and supportive, there was such a nice vibe at the Castle. The biggest downside was the quality of the water for the swim - it just took me by surprise as we'd practised in much clearer lanes, but maybe pitch black water is normal(!)

This was my first ever triathlon and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone involved was welcoming and friendly, there was a great atmosphere about the place. The course itself was good, nice quiet roads for the bike, the only feedback I have is about the swim, there was a lot of vegetation in the water closer to the edges which was a bit offputting for a novice, but overall it was a really good first experience. Thanks everyone.

This was my first triathlon and I really enjoyed it. The event was well organised and there was lots of information available before and on the day. There was plenty of nutrition and activities to do for spectators. I did think it was disappointing that all spectators have to pay and this was a bit of a shock. I also think there should be an option to wear a wetsuit if you want to (and not place?) this made me feel a little uncomfortable and I watched someone walk away and not participate because of this
