Great event village, one of the best, it seems like they are really pushing this event to make it an even bigger event in the future!
Finding a place to park was a nightmare! I followed the post code as indicated via there website and it takes you directly to where roads are being closed off! I arrived around an hour before the start and there was no signs for parking or where to go so I parked in a side street around 2 miles from the start! Because I was parked this side of town it was very very difficult leaving due to the roads being closed! I’m sure there was better places to park to avoid all this but if there was there was no signs or help to indicate where!
The route is ok, I was hoping to see more of Gatwick Airport as I was expecting to run right next to an airfield and see lots of airplanes!
Maybe we did run by one but if we did it was masked by tree lined streets!
A good mix of areas generally, through the Centre, through country lanes and back through the Centre! Arguably too many country lanes in the middle section but that’s down to personal preference!
One thing concerned me that the pacemaker I was with for around 5 miles said a few times that the mile markers wasn’t accurate? I’m sure they are but a silly thing to say from a pacemaker!
Generally flat although still some very slight hills and a short steep hill between mile 8 and 9 but this is followed by a lovely down hill section and you’ll really make up some time!
They seriously need to change the finish line as it’s a 90 degrees turn at the end and around 50 meters to the end, it really stops anyone properly sptinting for the line! Surely they can just have the finish line further up the last road before that turn????
I think this could be a PB course as it certainly is quick and although it seems like I didn’t enjoy it I really did, they just need to sort out the finish line and parking and it’ll be amazing
