Such a unique event running alongside (and for a short section inside) Gatwick Airport with aeroplanes landing and taking off in plain sight just a few hundred meters away from runners. What I loved: nice event village (maybe not many food van options), nice medal and goodies, good partnership with SES water to reduce plastic waste. What could be done better: parking is notoriously bad at this event, every year it creates congestion on the main road that is also used by non-runners. Also, there weren't enough portaloos, the queue was just insane and many runners including myself ended up using the fields at the back of the car park.

Leaving the car park as mentioned in other comments are not good. I chose to stay on site for longer until traffic was no longer a standstill. There is a need to put in more toilets because of long queues. The marshalling was good, the water station was good, the route was good even though it is a bit of a dull long slog at times. The medal was excellent because it was good quality with a 'real' date and not just a year as other races have. The snacks were good at the finish and having SES Water providing 'tap' water was excellent and plentiful for all to enjoy and with no queues. Great for the environment and a good advocate of promoting tap water.

A very hot 10km alongside the runway (out 5km and back). With lots of cheering along the way. This event needed more water stations (they were at 2.5 and 7kms, one around 5km would have really helped with the sudden warm change in temperature especially as there is very little shade in the route. I wouldn't normally run with water for 10km but the heat on the day made me wish I had, I cannot remember a run where I was so thirsty by 5km mark. Prior to the race there were excessive queues to the toilets and exiting the carpark having pre-booked was a nightmare (queued for over 45 minutes to move 20 meters). Race communication prior to the race was excellent, along with pre collection of race numbers.

My first race experience, so I don’t have much to compare to, but for me the day was well organised. I booked an early arrival, so managed to park, pick up my bib and use the toilets without any issues and it was all very smooth. Later on there were quite long queues. I think more toilets would be beneficial as I don’t think there were enough for the number of people and a lot were seen diving into bushes. The run itself was great fun. An amazing location, and a more varied route than I imagined with some pretty leafy lanes before emerging onto the airport perimeter. The planes provide an awesome distraction. A water station at the 5k turning point would have been nice as it was blisteringly hot in that section of the run. Loved that the watering holes were manned by primary school children. They were brilliant and very encouraging. I opted out of the medal, but it looked cool. It was always going to take a while to get out after, but we just used the time to get an ice cream and only got in our car when our section started moving, so we got out in maybe 10 mins. I would definitely come again.

A great event! My husband was running and I was spectating with our children. Lots of food stalls. We found a lovely shady spot just by the start/finish tunnel where we could cheer everyone on. The only problem, and it was quite a big one, was the car park. The entrance/exit to the car park is of the running course, so no one can drive out until everyone has finished running. By this point a lot of people were wanting to then leave at the same time. My husband ran the 10k in about 68mins. We took our time to get to the car but then sat in the car, waiting to exit the car park for over 90 mins!! Cue 2 very agitated children. There were marshalls but I'm not sure exactly how they were deciding which rows to let go. Such a shame as it had been a lovely day

Great running event. A lot of time and effort was put into the event and I saw a lot of happy runners. It was very hot though and bear in mind, you may not be able to run as fast as you would like to.

There are definately things to improve…. The commute… the event location is not friendly for participants using public transport, specially people coming from other city via Gatwick train station. They have to walk through to the venue which is too much Family friendliness… not much family friendly because if you are using public transport, you will have to book a cab costing £20 one side making it £40 just to arrive at the venue…toilet facilities at the venue are less compared to the crowd that comes in… Food kiosks… good variety and taste… good job there… The water stalls… were less I think , specially for a hot day and very less shade on the route… I saw a few people stopping in middle and looking for water…

I've done Run Gatwick for the past three years and to be honest, I don't think i'll be back. The course is great, and the 'village' has a brilliant atmosphere (plus plenty of good swag at the end), but the organisation is appalling and hasn't improved. Getting in and out is a shambles. If you don't drive, it's impossible to access. The organisers make a big play of sustainability but with no alternative provisions, every competitor/spectator/volunteer is forced to drive. Why not have regular shuttle buses from Gatwick Airport, or Horley/Crawley, where people can get the train or bus to? That would also ease congestion on site which is by far the worst part of the experience. Getting in and out took forever, on an incredibly hot day. The water stations were in the wrong places (too early and too late) - there needed to be extra, around the 5/6k mark. There are nowhere near enough toilets, the queue was half an hour pre-race. It also starts too late in the day. And it needs to consider refreshment options better. One ice cream van was not enough for the number of people, yet other vans were totally empty. Who wants a toasted sandwich after a 10k?? So much potential, especially with the local schoolkids involved and the great village atmosphere, MC, music etc. But let down yet again by terrible organisation that they don't seem to be learning from.
