The Milton Keynes Marathon really is a fabulous event and the team behind it certainly seem to know exactly what they're doing.  Registration was easy, information plentiful and any questions/queries asked through email and social media were answered very quickly.

The race itself was also great.   After the obligatory Visor Club meetup it was into the start pens, where the race got underway promptly. The first 5-6 miles are run on closed main roads, before heading off into very attractive countryside where the route utilises the plethora of tarmace paths that criss-cross the vast green spaces that surround Milton Keynes. The scenery is lovely throughout.  The whole route was extremely well marshaled by firendly and supportive people. Even in the quiter areas of the course you are rarely far from seeing a friendly person in a high-viz jacket!  Local support was decent too, although not as many people as some of the bigger city marathons, but friendly and loud nevertheless.

The finish area is great. Down a slope, into the stadium and around the pitch to the line.  There were lots of people around, both supporters and lot of members of the event team.  From there it was medal collection and back up into the stadium to get our goodie-bag that consisted of a cracking t-shirt, a couple of milkshakes, crisps, a sample of High 5 energy tablets and a delicioud chocolate brioche - just what the doctor ordered after 26.2 miles!

In short, a cracking event and thoroughly recommended!  I certainly hope to be back in the future.
