← The Fox

This was my first ultra! I did not know what to expect after the marathon distance. I mean in terms of what it was going to do to me. It was pretty hard work due to the main hill section being in the last 12 miles. Aside from my pain, the Ultra itself was really well organised. Registration was easy, the briefing was clear and there were quite a few other first timers, which put me at ease.

The start was over the road from the church and after we got going there was quite a lot of congestion due to the narrow paths. Once we had done a few miles, the pack thinned out a bit and I got into a bit of a rhythm.

The aid stations were every 10k(ish) and were well stocked with everything from sandwiches to jelly sweets, crisps to flat cola.

I really enjoyed my first Ultra experience, and while I won't be rushing to sign up for any more very soon, I wouldn't rule out doing another one next year. Maybe the Fox again 🦊
