← Official Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon
Was really looking forward to this half and was left slightly disappointed! The start/village etc... is excellent. In front of the palace and then running along the river was amazing. The middle section is not great. You run along roads (that aren’t closed) on the pavement. It is difficult to overtake as you don’t have the room and can’t really use the road due to the cars. At around mile 8/9 you turn back into the palace but repeat the same section you ran at the beginning, along the river. You then finally turn into the grounds but run the last roughly 2 miles on dirt track which is very uneven and slippery! Everyone is trying to find the easiest bit to run on and again makes it very difficult to overtake!
As I said, shame as the idea of running round the palace is great it just doesn’t work out that way.
Generally is quite flat though
