First time doing a marathon aged 57 , I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, apart from being awake since 3:30 am.
From getting off the train at Blackheath to finishing on the Mall, the experience was awesome, the Marshals were encouraging, the crowds lifted you to the finish line .
I stopped smoking 4 years ago and started putting the weight on , so I got myself to the gym and started on the treadmill for a few months, then progressed to running outside, I then did a men’s 10k , next up was the Great Scottish Run 10k .
The next year I completed The GNR and the Great Scottish Run Half.
Finally a couple of days ago I did the London Marathon, I can’t put into words how I felt turning onto the Mall and seeing the finish line.
What I would say that every body supports you from your family, other Runner’s and most importantly the crowd, I would definitely do this again if I got the chance.
