What a day. What an experience. This will never be beaten.

I think by now everyone knows the entry process, stick your name in the ballot and hope. If not run for charity. I was very fortunate to run for an amazing charity, Spinal Research. If your worried about meeting fundraising targets, don't be. You will be amazed at people's generosity and the reward you get is simply unbelievable.

The pre race stuff is easy, good information sent out and easy registration process. Everything you need to know is within the instructions documents. Number pickup at the Expo is easy, we came down on the Friday morning and headed straight there. It wasn't too busy and there's plenty to look round and the Virgin Money games where you could win extra donations were great, we came away with £30 for our charity.

We started in the Red Zone, everything is easily laid out, well managed and slick. Baggage really easy, the bag you get is big so you can get everything in. Start pens well controlled and the wave starts seem to work nicely, we were on our way at 10.48.

The race itself is the best experience I've ever had running. Utterly amazing from start to finish. The streets are always lined with people cheering you, high fiving and offering everything from jelly babies to ice pops (which were very nice by the way!!)

The first few miles passed really quick and you soon merge with the other starts. Just after 6 you get to the first landmark, Cutty Sark where the volume cranks up. The support continues through Rotherhithe and then you turn after 12 onto Tower Bridge.

Tower Bridge is beyond what people tell you and the hairs on your neck will stand up. It's amazing. Look out for the photographers!

You then turn right and head to the Isle of Dogs, I thought this would be a dead spot for support but it continued. You then head into Canary Wharf, I expected Tower Bridge to be noisy but Canary Wharf wins on the volume front. It was so loud.

Final 6 is back towards the Tower and along the embankment. The support just keeps going and it's such a boost when you need it. Coming out of the embankment tunnel you spot Big Ben and you know you're nearly there.

The finish is special, Buckingham Palace and then down the Mall. It's iconic, emotive and just amazing. Crossing that line with my wife was the most unbelievable feeling!

I won't ever be able to truly describe the feelings I experienced during this race. It's incredible. You MUST do it. Get in however you can, it's the single best running experience you will ever have. I promise.
