I got a ballot place this year and wasn't sure what to expect.
First, great organisation, postings, Marshalls and aid stations. I couldn't fault any of the volunteers. Excellent local support.
Downside, it's crowded. I mean really crowded. If big events aren't your thing, don't apply. Second, while local support is great bullhorns being blown in your ear aren't. Pretty sure I was deaf in my right ear for a bit. Early miles no cordons so people just crossing the street willy-nilly, very dangerous. People talking on their phones or live streaming were hard to navigate around.
Great race but won't apply again.
