← Mersey Tunnel 10K

A unique race that allows you to run under the River Mersey. You are in the tunnel for just over a mile. Runners went through one tunnel and traffic the other. Cars beeped their horns as we entered the tunnel. Oggy chants went up too. It felt like the decent was longer than the climb out and the climb out wasn't as steep as I thought it was going to be. Once out of the tunnel there was the first of two drinks stations. The route was then pretty flat going past the docks area up to the ferry port and then along the promenade up to New Brighton. Second drinks station was between 6 and 7km. Lots of volunteers keeping the way clear of bottles. The final stretch from Fort Perch was lined with cheering spectators and made for a great run to the line. Crossing the line I was presented with water, cold coffee, lentil crisps, can of Rubicon, banana, medal which was very good quality and a t-shirt. Arms so full of stuff I felt like I was on Crackerjack lol. The organisation was great from start to finish. Am now looking forward to Port Sunlight 10k in June with BTR.
