← Wilmslow Festive 10K

Another brilliant and well organised race from Run North West. I signed up to this one along with the Alderley Edge Bypass 10k as there was a discount for signing up to both. Registering was easy online and organisers sent just enough emails to provide all the relevant information, I felt well prepared before race day. The route is lovely, very scenic in most parts while running through the Wilmslow countryside. The first 2-3km are very, very crowded as you start off on the main road in the town centre with 4000 other runners. It does take a while to get your speed up and there were a lot of runners who may have been a little bit optimistic with where they should start. But once you have got through the first couple of kilometres and everyone has spread out it becomes a very enjoyable route. The route is fairly flat with a few slight inclines, nothing too difficult even for beginner runners. The whole route is on closed roads which are fairly smooth but be warned that there are a few unmarked potholes to dodge. Local support was brilliant, lots of people came out to cheer runners on. Only the one aid station half way through the race but it was well manned with plenty of supplies for everyone and as always, the marshals were brilliant! Cheering on and making sure everyone was safe. The medal is one of my favourites too! Run North West always seem to provide great bling for finishers! They are quickly becoming my favourite race organisers and I have already signed up to the even for 2019.

Hi Paul. Thanks so much for feeding back how much you enjoyed it, we love the whole running community atmosphere and the festive run up really helps bring out the fun!! Best wishes Andrew & the RNW team. - Run North West
