This was my first marathon and what an experience it was. First of all, to get the negatives out of the way. The organisation at gate 2 wasn't very good, it was too congested and it meant I was nearly kate getting to the start line. I was queuing for nearly an hour to get through and other probably longer. Once at the start the line, the magic started. 26.2 miles of enjoyment as I wonder through the streets of Chicago, boosted by the incredible on course support. There was stops at about every 2km for drinks and there was plenty of water and Gatorade to keep us going. The course itself follows the streets of Chicago with a few residential areas thrown in. Overall a enjoyable course to run, very flat too. My only advice to anyone running it next year is to keep to the right hand side when approaching a bridge. The carpets were laid on that side with the left just a grid. It was difficult to run on but I soon learnt my lesson. The picture were good but I did expect more photographers. Perhaps it was the rain! Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to do the event again, it was an amazing experience!
