← Linlithgow 10k

A very wet and windy event in 2018, but a very enjoyable race. The race starts bang in the centre of Linlithgow at the cross with registration at the Burgh Halls. This is a very short walk from the train station making it very convenient for those travelling from Edinburgh or Glasgow direction. The race itself is essentially a figure of 8, going out west of Linlithgow and then looping back into town, before heading out again east and looping back into town. The loop east is particularly scenic, running alongside Linlithgow Loch with fantastic views of the town. The route itself is fairly hilly at certain points, going by a number of country roads. Although some of the route is on country roads, it's all on tarmac and there's no need for trail shoes. There's a water station at about 4km with plain water only available at the station. The race itself finishes in the fantastic (and historic) grounds of Linlithgow Palace. There is no medal, but there is a t-shirt, water (and best of all) a Tunnocks Wafer! Despite the horrible weather, the race was very well supported with lots of people turning out to cheer us on. The marshalls were also fantastic and present in large numbers throughout the course - there was no point you felt alone or didn't follow the route. Overall, this is a fantastic (and great value) small local race. Well worth entering if you're in the Central Belt.
