This is the second time I've done this race; a fun and well organised local race.

The race starts in the centre of the small town of Linlithgow about 15 minutes by train from the centre of Edinburgh. Registration isn't until the Sunday afternoon so it's quite easy to get ti from Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The route itself is essentially a figure if eight, heading west out of Linlithgow and looping back into the centre of town then looping out east before heading back into the centre of town and finishing by the historic and impressive Linlithgow palace.

There are no big hills on the route, but it is quite undulating in a number of places. The route is a combination of roads and pathways, although some of the pathways can get a bit muddy due to the time of year.

The course was very well marshalled and organised, with a water stop about 6k in. There was no medal, although there was a pretty cool long sleeved t shirt.

Overall a good value for money local race and well recommend if you're in the area.

A very wet and windy event in 2018, but a very enjoyable race. The race starts bang in the centre of Linlithgow at the cross with registration at the Burgh Halls. This is a very short walk from the train station making it very convenient for those travelling from Edinburgh or Glasgow direction. The race itself is essentially a figure of 8, going out west of Linlithgow and then looping back into town, before heading out again east and looping back into town. The loop east is particularly scenic, running alongside Linlithgow Loch with fantastic views of the town. The route itself is fairly hilly at certain points, going by a number of country roads. Although some of the route is on country roads, it's all on tarmac and there's no need for trail shoes. There's a water station at about 4km with plain water only available at the station. The race itself finishes in the fantastic (and historic) grounds of Linlithgow Palace. There is no medal, but there is a t-shirt, water (and best of all) a Tunnocks Wafer! Despite the horrible weather, the race was very well supported with lots of people turning out to cheer us on. The marshalls were also fantastic and present in large numbers throughout the course - there was no point you felt alone or didn't follow the route. Overall, this is a fantastic (and great value) small local race. Well worth entering if you're in the Central Belt.

Been meaning to do this race for a number of years and finally managed to get round to it this year.

I was warned it was a tough hilly course but a nice race to enter. I was also warned about issues with pre event parking in the small town but parked with ease and number pickup/registration was seemless.

They close the main high street for 45 minutes and you start from the main street in the heart of the town which is great and full of locals out supporting you. Head out of the town and you do a loop with a few downhill and uphill undulations before back into the town, dive left then a downhill right before the scenic run along the side of the loch for a long flat trail. Stunning views of the loch and the Palace on your right hand side before you reach the end of the loch and turn right and head up the hill around thr 7K mark. Long drag up but not as steep as I feared but still sapping on the legs, once you've dealt with that it's a great flat run to the finish and into the park area beside the Palace for a fantastic setting to finish with a nice crowd of supports.

T-shirt, water, banana and your choice of Protein bar of tunnocks caramel chocolate wafer to finish.

A well run event by Linlithgow AC, not a PB course but I wasn't far away from mine so chuffed with that.
