← Berlin Marathon

Ok so in short - EFFICIENT GERMAN EXTRAVAGANZA. Expo - SUPERB. Massive, pretty much given its going to be busy - plenty of stalls and representation. Flughafen Central was a unique and amazing venue and it’s literally one of the most interesting expo venues I’ve ever visited. Goodies - excellent. Slightly miffed at having to buy a Tee as extra though. Raceday - instructions were excellent to get to the race village. Crowded, standard - it’s a huge race, not your local 10k. Personally didn’t have any issues getting to start line, plenty did. Toilet facilities good. Lovely City run, seeing the sights of Berlin and the atmosphere was superb. Plenty of support the whole way round and feed stations were excellent (fruit/water/tea!) however the sports “drinks” and “gels” were practically inedible and I ended up spitting back into my cup and rinsing my mouth out. Very frequent aid stations, didn’t go thirsty the whole way round. Water was served in (plastic, sad face) cups - if they’d have been saving plastic then fair enough, no bottles but the fact even the cups were plastic kind of defeated the object. I did however have a soft cup provided to attach to my belt which must have occasionally saved some fish. Poncho/bag option was ok - poncho was AWESOME and will defo use again. Very VERY sad that the Erdinger ran out before we got back - you’d think that they’d have worked out how many had vouchers on their bibs and supply the correct amount. Generally my lack of Erdinger is my only bad point about this race. Loved the sights and the support, brilliant experience.
