Fantastic Event, Great Organisation, Superb Support. I had heard and read great reviews about the previous Run Reigate events so signed up to do this myself. After reading the FAQ’s on the very informative website found out that I could also push a buggy, I did double check with the organisers who confirmed that it was OK. This for our family is great and means that my Partner could also enter rather than one spectating. I was surprised at how few (I only saw two) buggy runners had entered. As the event drew closer I became apprehensive about running a large event pushing a buggy so I contacted the organisers and received speedy and very helpful replies which mind put at ease. The event village was superb and catered for all with a large selection of stalls and entertainment. The Bag drop was well managed by very willing and able volunteers before and after the race. The start funnel was a little crowded but this is to be expected and as I had a running buggy I dropped back a pen from my predicted time, as soon as we excited the park onto the roads the course widens and the space soon opens up. There was fantastic support heading out of town, the marshals on the route were all very supportive and the shouts of encouragement from the side of the roads were great. There were many positive comments about the buggy, mostly from the spectators, and Tommy was enjoying the cheers and even giving out high 5’s to the supporters and receiving as many Jelly Babies as we could get hold off. The only benefit of running with the Buggy was that I could easily carry my own drinks bottles so I didn’t have to worry about the drinks stations which seemed well stocked and positioned perfectly along the route. The hill at the mile 12 was a real tester and after a short attempt to run up it I had to walk but found the steep down hill section after more of a challenge due to the buggy being below my feet so I had to run alongside it, this didn’t last long until we appeared back in the park to a fantastic finish with spectators lining both sides of the course for several hundred meters before the finish. I really enjoyed the event, running with the buggy took away any thoughts of a PB and allowed us to soak up the fantastic atmosphere. Would love to run this event again but may not take the buggy next time. Great to meet up with the #Visorfamily and looking forward to many more events.
