I will preface this by saying I did have a personally poor race. However the route to the pens is busy & chaotic, trying to squeeze through at the Brandenburg Gate with people on bicycles trying to go the other way. Far too many non-runners were in the mix too. At the start, signage for start pens was non-existent and a couple of hundred of us was sent in entirely the wrong direction which wasted at least 10 minutes trying to break through fences to get to the pens. The water stops were absolutely abysmal, cups are useless, people fighting to get water, in later stages people emptying entire buckets of sponge water over their heads just lead to complete chaos. The amount of public who would walk/run across the course to cross roads was ridiculous and several were pushed/shoved by runners. The marshalls did little to stop this. At the finish after having received the medal the signs were better, it was a lengthy walk to actually exit post race area and make our way to the station.
