My 3rd time doing York 10k. I booked it quite late so had to collect my race number on the day. That was no problem .
Typical ‘Run For All’ event. Nice pre race atmosphere as you’d expect & the usual pre race warm up.
Race starts & ends near York Race course with a course that takes you around the historic & beautiful York city centre. It’s a fast course with plenty of twists & turns. There are a few little cobbled sections & speed bumps so caution is advised to avoid trips & falls. Much of the race has great support from the general public which is always appreciated.
There were 2x water stations (on 3k & 7k) which was very welcome on what was a very hot day.
Finishers got a nice medal & good quality tech shirt. These are good but are very similar to my other ‘Run For All’ medals & shirts. There was a finisher’s bag with a few eat treats.
Very happy to get a 10k PB (41:44).
In Summary:
HIGHS: One of the nicest big city 10k’s around.
LOWS: Medal/ shirt too similar to other RFA events.
BOTTOM LINE: Fast & mostly flat race around a historic city. Highly recommended.
