For the price of entry it felt way over subscribed for the space and logistics available. Glad I tried it out but won't be back.

Not enough toilets for the amount of runners. This was my first and last time doing York 10k which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it but it was just too crowded.

A massive thank you to the organisers for a great event - but an even bigger thank you to the fantastic volunteers and spectators around the course who make it a truly memorable event every year, Minor issues (far outweighed by the positives) - exiting car park was a major problem, also possibly toilets there to ease the situation on the Knavesmire. One tip for stewards at crossing points - try to get the people to cross diagonally with the flow of the race - less stress for both spectators and competitors. Runnres - please be aware to each other - warn about obstacles etc, please, if like me, you need to stop/walk move to the edge of the road/path and please, if running in company, allow others room to pass especially on the narrow sections. Overall though a wonderful event, on a par with the big London 10K's I have competed in

I've done this run on several occasions and love it. The route is great as is the support along the way. The event is well organised and I'll keep on doing it until I become too old and decrepit! Hopefully that will be a long time yet. I live in Sheffield and came to York by public transport for a long weekend so I didn't have any stress in getting to the start - I didn't use the toilets, bag drop or parking so cannot comment on those even though rating them is required - poor design of review page there!!! I gave that a 1 star so perhaps have a N/A option next time?! It might be nice to have local businesses set up stalls to providing food and drink at the end of the run - perhaps even some music, seating and other activities to make more of a festival of the occasion.

I have enjoyed running this city centre event for 3 years but will probably be my last. Despite giving constructive feedback in previous years regarding the toilet, start funnel and parking issues things have not improved but have got rapidly worse. The event has grown beyond the organisers capabilities. They need to capped the number of entries to say 4000 to be able to cope with the logistics of such an event. Dangerous traffic queues on the A64 to the slip road to Bishopthorpe. Insufficient toilets to meet the needs of 6000 runners to safely make it to the start on time. Heavy congestion and access in the start funnel. Long delays and stress exiting the car park. 2 hours time lost which effects peoples child and animal care arrangements in place.

It's a lovely course (although a few bottlenecks), but sadly I won't be returning unless the car parking, traffic and toilet situation is guaranteed to improve. I thought I'd left my house with bags of time but hit traffic on the A64 at 08:20. Then it took an hour and a quarter to get the last 5 miles to the car park so the race had already started. Lady on the tannoy was then saying not to use the toilet before the start and you have to start running now or you'll miss the cut-off. I ignored this as I was already desperate and had no choice. I had already stopped drinking as much water as I would have liked in the car. It sounds like others missed the start just because of the toilet queues even if they got there earlier. I quickly checked several toilets and there was no loo roll in any of them. Luckily I just made the start before the cut- off, but I'm sure many others would have missed it completely as there were still people parking up and hurrying to the start line as I ran past the car park. Bitterly disappointed as I had trained so hard and expected to PB, but just missed out due to feeling so stressed and being stuck in bottle necks behind all the slower runners. This is the only race I've ever not enjoyed and never known congestion issues like it even at other big races.

The race its self is fun route, two water stations and plenty of marshals. There are some narrow bits and with this being a popular race lots of congestion. Nice goodie bag and medal at the end. The diversion in the city is a joke, whilst I’m laughing about it now I wasn’t at the time, it simply takes you back out to the A64 roundabout where you are met with a sign saying diversion ends!!! That’s not a diversion, that’s just getting rid of all the cars out of the immediate area of the race course. The queues on the A64 were ridiculous, by the time I had got there and parked the race had already started. On leaving the carpark which took a good 20 minutes, the marshal insisted cars in the left lane turned left to drive the long way around the race track but then to be met by another marshal and a road closed sign, residents in the housing estate I bet were not happy as the roads were blocked up with cars everywhere, many of the drivers with medals around their necks so clearly from the race. I chose to spin around and go back the way I originally wanted to although the traffic was awful. Sadly due to the very lengthy ordeal in getting to and from the race, this is my first and last York 10k.

My first York 10k, sadly my last, travelled from Grimsby reached York at 8:15 to find many roads closed off and diversions in place which I accept. Used the diversion route but not one sign indicated alternative route for event. Ended up on the A64 and further chaos and traffic congestion. Finally parked to be informed the race start delayed by 3 minutes by a man on a bike. 100’s were still arriving at this time. Finally set off 19 minutes after race start ( I aimed to be with 55 minute pacers) . Course is very picturesque with bottlenecks but I was prepared for these bus YouTube videos. Toilets …clearly not enough. To many plastic bottles - use paper cups at water stations like a lot of events have moved to. Marshall’s great as were the singers etc around the route. Finish line well organised. Sadly the chaos of travel ruined my da.
