← Round Reading Ultra Marathon

This is a great beginner friendly ultra marathon. At 50km (31 miles) it's a challenge without being too big a step up from a marathon!

The course was a mix of tow path, trail and road and save climbing a few bridges, was fairly flat all the way round.

Registration was either the night before or on the morning. Along with a race number, runners were given a course map and detailed narrative instructions to guide us round. There was also a GPS option. All very slick and friendly. And nice buff given too!

Race briefing was clear and concise, mentioning a slight change on the course but not too worry as it was signed with big yellow arrows. And then we were off!

The check points/ feed stations were well stocked with water, flat coke, sweet and savoury snacks as well as cheery marshals.

Navigating was straightforward- you just read the instructions. The cut-off times were not an issue for 50k runners either.

The race gave me the perfect excuse to explore a new route round Reading and think about doing training runs in different areas. There was a good atmosphere from other competitors and thanks for everyone's support and encouragement in helping me complete my first ultra marathon. I have a fantastic medal and even better memories to remember the day.
