What a great event this was.  I was part of a Bastion Relay team completing the swim in the fantastic Lake and River Eden.  WIth the race starting at 6am the setting was fabulous.  The water temp nearing 26 degrees meant no wet suit and off we went.  Not many race will have a feedstation where you do not need to leave the water with such variety on hand, but i am sure this was a welcome option for many as even in the water the temperature of the dat was felt.  Great support getting out of the water and a short jog to T1. I cannot imagine there are any more picturesque routes from the water to transisiton than here at Hever Castle. I handed over to my team mate for him to complete the Cycle in what can only be described as brutal weather conditions.  The feed and drink stations were well oiled machines and meant that swapping out water bottles were doen with ease and food was taken on board easily.  3 loops of 60km was probably the limit of the number of laps over that disatnce but it meant that regular support was at hand. A slick T2 transition was on hand and with our cyclists suffering with heat exhaustion the marshalls were quickly on hand to help.  The final leg - 4 laps running through some beautiful countryside and settings cannot be described as easy nor quick but completing the event was the priority.

I and my team mates Team Aldro Dusty Yak would recommend this if you want a fantastic challenge - however be prepared as the cycle and run routes are tough.

My only recommendation would be to have a few more marshalls on the run course late in the day as this is when the competitors are really struggling at this time
