Ok, let’s get the elephant in the room out the way- the route was a mile short. Only 11.9 miles and unfortunately this is a big dent in an event that can build into something great. 

This aside the Castle Run Series holds an opportunity to run around beautiful and iconic castles around the UK. 

Registration was easy and communication was good. Numbers were picked up on the day and was not a problem, however this may prove something to think about as the events grow. 

It was a small field- only about 200 runners total across a 10k & Half marathon. However because of the Triathlons taking places it was good to have more people around. 

The route is something that can be a big appeal- a beautiful run around the castle grounds before a hill around the castle itself. This was a 3 lap route. I’m not normally a fan of laps but this didn’t not feel repetitive and the change in concrete, gravel and grass kept your mind occupied alongside of the great views. 

Overall, I potentially brilliant events that offered good feed stations with Hi5&Water at regular intervals. 

As a race check ambassador, I did not pay for this event however seeing it as a paying customer, I feel at £30-40 a tshirt should be included. The medal was something a bit different and the organisation was very thorough. 

Sort that mileage out and I’ll be back next year.
