← Guernsey Ultra GU36

Having run Jersey ultra in 2016, I decided to do the Guernsey ultra in 2018. At 36 miles it's not too long, but a nice distance.

The course is easy to navigate, but you do need to be careful as people can move the markings before the run!! Only 3 checkpoints so you need to make sure you can carry enough water/fuel for between them. Checkpoints are at 8, 16 and 25 miles and you can have a drop bag at 16 miles after the cliff section, which is beautiful but brutal with oh so many steps.

Plenty of toilets after the cliff section as well as beach cafes should you need extra water/fuel before you get to the final checkpoint. Also as the island is small, you can stop anywhere on the island and it's still a short journey to the start in St Peter Port.

Brilliant medal and t-shirt at the finish and the aid stations are well stocked, lovely sausage roll at checkpoint 2!!
