← Timothy James & Partners London 10 Mile

Having supported my Dad at last year's race, we both ran this year. Registration is straightforward, communication efficient in lead up to the day. Luckily we used the previous participants' discount code otherwise it would be hard to justify the £44 entry fee! + £22 for a t-shirt if you want one. This is a lot more than other races I've entered, inc a half marathon with closed roads, medals, feed stations, snacks at finish, etc.

There was plenty of water at stations and they were suitably spread around the course. There were queues at the portaloos before the start, but enough available that the queues moved quickly. Park public toilets were open for runners to use around the route.

Were given a small flapjack & peanut butter sachet at finish. Food and drink to buy from trucks in start/finish area was quite pricey (1 beer & 2 soft drink cans = £9), we went home for food.

Support and encouragement from marshalls, 'squirrells', tree surgeons and other characters was fantastic. The atmosphere overall was fantastic & really motivated me to keep running, even on some of the hills! Even being overtaken by Paul Sinton-Hewitt at 3 miles despite him being last to start!

The course is one lap around Richmond Park, there is very little shade, and a couple of horrendous hills (especially mile 7) but the views are gorgeous. Last mile is relatively flat and was great for a sprint finish!

Just waiting for the free race photos to go online, I did try to look happy for the camera...
